If you’ve been around Pine Press for any length of time you know, we love to celebrate Christmas in July.
We’re all about encouraging our customers to get a jump-start on their holiday planning by ordering calendars and holiday cards early to take advantage of “early bird discounts.”
If you’re looking for something different to do for your customers this year, join us in a little Christmas in July celebration of your own.
If the promotion conjures up visions of blow up Santa’s in shorts and sunglasses, it doesn’t need to be tacky, and you can make it a classy fun event your customers will love. Christmas in July promotions have worked its way into our culture and is now an acceptable celebration in the middle of summer.
A summer event doesn’t necessarily mean you need to provide a huge discount, it’s more about bringing awareness to your businesses by getting people through your door or to your website.
Here are five ideas to make your July promotion a success:
Invite Your Customers
Host a party, make it fun, create a buzz. Don’t just offer a sale, do something that will get your clients excited about a party in July. Provide snacks, play Christmas music, give away door prizes, and put people in a holiday mood by encouraging them to drop in. Look through your customer archives and invite past customers and encourage them to bring a friend. For an extra special event invite a few different businesses to go together to host a mega event.
Think Ahead
There’s no better way to introduce new winter products than holding a “Private Preview” sale. Make it by invitation only so your customers feel like they’re getting a behind the scene look at what’s to come. It’s also a good way to pull out last year’s overstock and offer it at huge discounts. Don’t just make your Christmas in July event ordinary, put a real sense of anticipation to it. Make your customers feel like they’re getting something special.
Invite Them Back
Offer buy now, save later gift cards or coupons to be redeemed during the holidays to encourage your customers to come back. Then during November and December hand out gift cards or coupons to be redeemed during July. There’s no guarantee they’ll return, but most will take the discount anyways.
So, if you’re looking for a fresh summer promotion, give your customers something they can celebrate all year long! It’s a wonderful way to clean out old inventory, encourage pre-holiday orders, introduce new products or services and a way to thank your loyal customers with an unexpected promotion.
